How are cross matches found?

CalcuQuote's Update Pricing functionality is the fastest way to capture pricing and availability information for line items within your bill of material (BOM).

Through this functionality, you can instantly search manufacturing part numbers in your BOM across distributors for real-time pricing and availability information.

As CalcuQuote performs a supplier search for your MPN, it will automatically return additional results for cross matches within CQ Price Selector alongside other supplier data. Cross results are common to the following situations:

Incorrectly formatted MPNs

In some cases, the MPN imported with your BOM may not match the MPN at the supplier. In this situation, the supplier may return pricing and availability results for parts that closely resemble the provided MPN.

For example, suppose your MPN is A23-GC32A-55HDSA - The supplier may find additional results for your search by reorganizing the hyphens in your MPN to A23GC-32A55HDSA.

CalcuQuote will consider the results of this newly reorganized MPN as cross-matched data helping you identify that these results are slightly different from your original search.

Supplier linked crosses

Commonly, suppliers may link your MPN to other MPNs within their inventory when parts are considered equivalent.

For example, suppose your MPN is LP2985-33DBVR, suppliers may link LP2985-33DBVRG4 as equivalent match. Within CalcuQuote, these are noted as cross matches as they are not exact matches with your original MPN.

While cross matches are pulled directly from the suppliers, it is good practice to thoroughly review these parts before making material sourcing decisions.
