ShopCQ: How to Select Multiple Suppliers

What is this?

Sometimes you need to buy a part from more than one supplier to fulfill your demand. ShopCQ lets you do this by multi-sourcing a single demand line. And seamlessly to you, the lines are split according to the selected supplier and order quantities, still reference the original demand line information and create the appropriate PO actions automatically.

How do I use this?

  1. Open the ShopCQ Price Selector window for the demand line for which you want to select multiple suppliers

  2. Toggle ON the "MultiSource" button

  3. Check the boxes for the suppliers you want to source from

  4. Adjust the order quantities to meet the demand quantity

  5. After clicking on the confirm button, the current demand line will split as per the number of supplier sources.

Caution: The order quantity must be reviewed and updated to avoid any loss of money.

Under the hood:

  • When you choose to multisource a single demand line, what ShopCQ is doing is splitting the original demand line and quantity according to the supplier you choose. So you may end up with more demand lines than you started with (including in API calls, Excel exports, etc.).

  • The split demand lines are still linked through the database so you can recognize them with the "split" symbol as shown below.

  • The tags, descriptions, part number references, etc. on the original demand line are duplicated to the split demand line so you can still reference that data, but the original demand line will disappear.
