QuoteCQ: How To Configure Line Level Markups

Markup your materials and PCBs individually and decide the best Sales strategy for you

Based on the Part Class/Part Type, you can configure default markups for line items in QuoteCQ. With this approach, you can have different markups for PCBs, capacitors, ICs, etc. You can then determine on the Summary tab to apply a Line Level or BOM markup for materials and you can export a costed BOM including the marked up unit, assembly, and extended costs.

Configure Part Type Markups

  • Navigate to Configuration > Materials

  • In the menu, click Part Types.

  • Edit the Part Types by clicking on the row and add a mark up based on the Part Type

Here's how to use in practice:

Currently, users can add material markups by using Auto Markup Rules or manually entering the material markups on the summary tab. Users now have an option of using Line Level Markups.

In the Summary, users can select either BOM Markup or Line Markup to decide which to apply for each assembly.

BOM Markup = Markups added manually or automatically from Auto Markup Rules
Line Markup = Markups assigned to a part type (see first part of the article)

Click on the three vertical dots next to Material Markup in the screen shot below.

  1. Here you will select either BOM Markup or Line Markup to decide which to apply.
  2. In order to apply the line level markups, choose Line Markup in the dropdown. You will be prompted to confirm before the changes are made.
  3. Once confirmed, the line item markup(s) will be applied. NOTE: Users will only be able to select either BOM Markup or Line Markup, not both.
  4. Now that changes have been applied, the Markup(s) will be changed depending on the selection.
  5. If you would like to revert the changes, simply use the three vertical dots next to Material Markup, then select the option that does not have a check next to it.

Line Level Markup Review

If you have Line Markup selected, review the markups for each line and make adjustments where needed. Here's how:

  1. Choose Actions in the top right corner
  2. Select Line Level Markup

The top 10 highest cost parts will be displayed. In this view, users can:

  • Edit the Markup %

  • Reset the changed Markup % to the original.

  • Once the changes have been made, choose Confirm and the changes will be applied.

Resetting your Markups

Use the blue reset button next to Actions to reset your markups to the original values.

Users can now include the line item markup in reports exported out of Report Builder:

  1. Navigate to Material Costing.

  2. Select Actions.

  3. Choose Report builder.

  4. Adjust the columns by using the hamburger icon on the right.
