Connect your data to CalcuQuote using our FTP Data Source solution
Below are the instructions to set up an FTP location to pull your data source file on your schedule.
Index:
How to set up an FTP Location
- Go to Configuration > Supplier Data > Data Source.
- From here, click the + next to the Data Source label to add a new setup (it won't apply to older data sources).
- Field the Data Source Name with any naming you'd like to use, with no spaces. This will be displayed when you use it, for instance alongside your APIs when running Update Pricing.
- Fill in the Current Decimal Separator: this is the character used to separate the decimals in the unit price. By default, it is set to ".(dot)", but you can set the decimal separator as per your localization.
- Fill in the Currency Group Separator: this is the character used to separate the thousands in the unit price. By default, it is set to ",(comma)", but you can set the group separator as per your format.
Note! The Decimal Separator and Group Separator cannot be the same. - Fill in the Column Separator, this is the character used in the .csv file to delimit the columns. By default, it is set to ",(comma)", but you can set it up as per your own format.
- Fill in the Default Currency, this is the currency the application will use when your file wouldn't contain such information.
Note! You can include a Currency column in your file to indicate the specific currency for each line. If no currency indicated, the application will use the default one. - Choose Schedule FTP. This action will display a number of fields you need to complete:
- FTP Host: this is the name of the host server, where your file will be available. It will probably resemble a website address.
- FTP Port: this is the port by which the file can be accessed. This should be a number, most commonly 21 for FTPs and 22 for SFTPs.
- Username: The username needed to access the FTP site.
- Password: The password needed to access the FTP site.
- File Name: the name of the file as it's saved in the FTP site. It must be exactly the same and include also the file extension. For example: "datasourcefile.csv".
- File Source Type: select the type of file you're setting as per the purpose of it:
- BOM Insights: select this option if you want to use the file to populate your IPNs, CPNs, MPNs, Target Pricing or Current Suppliers in your BOM. You can learn more in THIS article.
- Pricing: select this option if you want to use the file as a source of pricing, to populate unit price and inventory information. Please check THIS article to learn more.
- Set up a Time of Update, a time for the application to update the connection daily.
- Optionally, you can mark the Auto Run check-box. When this check-box is ticked, the data source will run automatically when the BOM gets submitted, not baing necessary that you run the data source when performing Update Pricing.
- Click on Save.
- The system will run the FTP connection right away, and it will populate the mapping screen. At this point, you need to map the file, this is, making the columns of your file match with CalcuQuote properties.
