The Part Classification can be as detailed as you want. It is only a matter of configuring your Part Classifications.

How to populate the Part Classification in the BOM
QuoteCQ has to ways of including the Part Class information in the BOM:
Method 1: Upload the Part Class in the BOM Excel file.
- Add an additional column in the BOM file to indicate the part classification:
- When importing the BOM, map the column as the Part Class:
- The Part Class of the BOM file has to be the same as the Part Class terminology you use in the QuoteCQ Part Class Configuration. If not, the Import Widget will highlight the unmatched classification as an error:
- In that same screen, you can fix the Part Class to the correct term:
Note: the Part Class column is actually a combination of the Part Classification and the Part Type. As an example, in the screen below, when the Part Class is set to "Cable Connector", Cable is the Part Class and Connector is the Part Type.
Method 2: Edit the Part Class column in the BOM tab
If you didn't include the Part Classification column in the BOM file, once you import the BOM into QuoteCQ you can edit the Part Class Column. There are three ways of doing this:
Edit the Part Class manually
- Click on on the Part Class cell of any line
- It will display a dropdown list of the Part Clas-Types listed in the Part Class configuration
Use the Scrub My BOM function
Scrub my BOM will allow you to automatically populate the part classification using different sources:
Note: the Scrub my BOM function is available from Advanced tier.
Use Machine Learning
You could also use our Machine Learning functionality to auto populate the Part Classifications in the BOM tab. See THIS article to learn more.
